What a big winter, with a bigger spring ahead!

We hope you are keeping warm over winter. Once again in term 3, it is great to see so many learning, training hard and enjoying tennis.

We are very excited for spring and the upcoming summer, especially with the buzz around town for the WTA and ATP Adelaide International event in January. This is a great opportunity to see some of the best players in the world right in our backyard.

WHAT HAPPENED IN WINTER!

Below are some key highlights and achievements from the last three months!

Tayla Whitehouse Ken McGregor Fund Recipient
Congratulations to Tayla Whitehouse on successfully applying for financial assistance from the Tennis SA Ken McGregor Fund (KMF).

Tayla currently holds an Australian Ranking of 45. Over the past 12 months, Tayla has achieved some impressive junior results including making it to the quarterfinals at an ITF Juniors event in Fiji (B2), won a Grade 4 event in Germany and a Grade 5 event in Uzbekistan, plus qualified for the main draw in Traralgon, Victoria (J1). Tayla also made it to the round of 16 at the ITF World Tennis Tour event in Port Pirie ($15K) and the semifinal at Antalya ($15K).

Super 10s & South Australian State Team Representatives

  • Eliza Gauvin, Sienna Privopoulos and Nikola Markulin competed in the Tennis SA Super 10s.
  • Billy Williams competed in the Under 11s Boys SA State Team in Queensland from 30 June to 4 July 2019. Tennis SA Story

USA College Tennis
Congratulations to George Wong who graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee. George graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Degree in Communications & New Media).

Further more, congratulations to Eamonn Moore who has successfully applied for a college scholarship with Aquinas College in Michigan.

Adelaide International Announcement
Great to see Sarah Mildren and Eliza Gauvin from the Academy were involved in the media launch to announce Simona Halep is coming to Adelaide to play in the Adelaide International.

Tennis SA Story

Charlie and Chloe Thomas Complete Community Coaching Course
Congratulations to Charlie and Chloe Thomas who completed the Community Coaching Course in May. This is a course ran over 3 days by Tennis Australia. Everyone at the Academy wishes you both all the best with your coaching career.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY COACHING CLINIC

The School Holiday Coaching Clinic will be back in term 3 holidays. Further details will be sent out over the next few weeks.

ANZ HOT SHOTS

Term 4 ANZ Hot Shots will start on Monday 14th October. We have available red, orange and green ball stages. Please visit http://www.langmanandleytennis.com/#hot_shots for the more information.

ADULT GROUP COACHING IS BACK

Adult group coaching is back in Term 4! Starting on Tuesday 15th October 7pm to 8pm. The program will run for the 1st eight weeks of the term and costs $200 for the eight weeks or $30 per session. The program is a great way to get a kick start for the 2019/20 Summer season.

TODDLER TENNIS IS BACK

Toddler Tennis (ANZ Hot Shots Blue Ball stage) is back in Term 4! Starting on Friday 18th October at 3:30 to 4pm. The program will run for the 1st eight weeks of the term and costs $100.

Toddler Tennis is for ages between 2.5 – 5yrs and no minimum playing standard required. Players could move to red ball the next stage earlier than 5yrs if required. It is designed to introduce younger children to the game of tennis in a fun setting. The program will help to stimulate motor skill development, build strength, balance and general coordination.

DISCOUNTS AND OFFERS

The following DISCOUNTS are also available for coaching if your child is eligible.

Sports Vouchers 2019
The Sports Vouchers program is a Government of South Australia initiative administered by the Office for Recreation and Sport. The program provides an opportunity for primary school aged children from Reception to Year 7 to receive up to a $100 discount on sports fees. The purpose is to increase the number of children playing organised sport by reducing cost as a barrier to participate in sport.

Who is eligible for the program? All South Australian primary school aged children, meaning if the child is attending or is eligible to attend primary school. It is one voucher for every primary school aged child per calendar year. If you want to use a sports voucher please include the child’s medicare or visa number in the comments section of the registration form.
